College Prep

The college curriculum begins in the 9th grade as students begin to explore what colleges are looking for, and what they can start doing about it in 9th grade.  Parents can join our annual Lowerhouse Parent Q&A meeting and our annual College Financial Planning Night.

In 10th grade, students take their first PSAT at MHS, are introduced to Naviance, and explore career possibilities. Parents can join our annual Lowerhouse Parent Q&A meeting and our annual College Financial Planning Night.

The 11th grade focuses on the application process, with students researching schools, writing essays, participating in College Representative meetings (over 150 a year).  In the fall, juniors take the PSAT/NMSQT at MHS.  Students attend nine weekly College Advisories, participate in Junior Family College Night, visit a local college with their Advisory group, and attend our College Fair.  Families meet individually with the college counselors in the spring, and can participate in our annual College Financial Planning Night.

In 12th grade, parents participate in our Senior Parent Q&A in the fall.  Students complete and submit their college and financial aid applications, supported by eight weekly College Advisories.  The second semester of 12th grade addresses issues that first year college students may encounter.
